Does hell exist?

Dictionary meaning of Hell/Sheol: abode of dead or damned; place or state of misery; eternal separation from God; eternal fire; eternal punishment/prison. Hades: abode of departed spirits.

God’s Word says:

Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him. (Hebrews 9v27, 28).

I (Jesus) am the Living One; I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. (Revelation 1v18).

Then I (John) saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from His Presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of Life.

The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20v11-15).

We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? (Hebrews 2v1, 2).

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends:  With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3v8, 9).
